Voicing: SATB and piano with cello
By Glenn Wonacott
This beautifully moving piece serves both as a perfect choice for Good Friday, when the text is used as the first reading in the Revised Common Lectionary, and as an elegy for its composer, Glenn Wonacott, who died from illness this year, much too soon. The flowing cello lines combined with piano arpeggios underscore emotional choral lines, ending with the hollowness of the final, open chord.
