Past Life Melodies / Sarah Hopkins / ssaa - The original mixed voice version of Past Life Melodies was written for Graeme Morton's St. Peters Chorale, a high school choir. This arrangement by the composer for treble voices divides into seven parts, but often these double each other or hold long sustained notes, so the piece works well even with choirs of moderate ability. It includes a section of "harmonic overtone singing" where individual voices sing two notes at the same time: a low note and a very high and ethereal tone. This piece will thrill both your choir and your audience! There is ample material in the preface and in other writings by Sarah Hopkins to aid you in rehearsal. There are also versions for voices and accompaniment of celli or full orchestra – contact the composer for further information.
