Theme and fourteen variations on the great Pentecost Hymn VENI CREATOR SPIRITUS for the enterprising and challenged organist. Although the entire work is thought of as a whole, certain movements could be extracted as preludial or postludial music for the Feast of Pentecost. The piece, written in 2004 for Richard Hoskins as part of the dedicatory celebrations for the new Fisk organ at St. Chrysostoms Church in Chicago, has taken a place in the Pentecost literature of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries alongside that of Messiaen.
