Composed Lloyd Larson, incorporating MORNING SONG, from Wyeth's Repository of Sacred Music, Part Second, 1813.
This Advent piece is full of interesting melody, harmony, and history. Lloyd Larson has composed a strong new melody based on original and historic text that is full of the minor sounds often associated with Advent. The tuneful melody is complemented by close choral harmonies. "The King Shall Come When Morning Dawns" is expertly woven into the middle section, and the new, original chorus takes over as if the two were written at the same time. The piece ends quietly, with anticipation. A lovely violin part adds to the longing quality of the song. Optional violin part is included.
