This lyrical setting of the Song of Simeon (Luke 2: 29-32) conveys the confidence and joy of Simeon in the temple on seeing the fulfillment of salvation in the Christ child. The fluid motion of the piece provides a vehicle for teaching legato, expressive phrasing.
