For Unison/2-Part Voices
By William Anderson & Laura Bergquist
The dramatic story of Elijah bewildering and embarrassing the prophets of Baal has all the elements of an entertaining learning experience for children: lightning, thunder, fire, and angry prophets. An intergenerational work that is true to the biblical story, Elijah tells of the prophet's conflict with King Ahab and his pagan queen, Jezebel. The important message of trusting in the one, true God is emphasized with simple speaking parts for adults and children, underscored with easy-to-learn, interesting and imaginative music. The work may be performed on acoustic or electric piano and enhanced with the optional Flute part. This part, and permission to reproduce it, is included in the director's edition along with numerous helpful staging directions and narration-only pages that may be duplicated for the performers. The complete narration is still included within the score, rounding out a thoughtful and well-designed product group. Performance time: 50-60 minutes
