This lovely setting joins a long line of Mr. Helvey's distinguished settings of spirituals. Following a brief a cappella rendition of the tune, we find simple, sustained vocal lines supported by a flowing keyboard accompaniment. A saxophone obbligato, which can also be played by violin or flute, adds a unique color to the overall sound. Also available for SATB.
