This group of hymns can either be played as a String Quartet, String Quintet or a Full String Ensemble. This group of hymn tunes is so popular, we probably should have put one title in each of 4 different groups of hymns. "Simple Gifts" is the well-known American folk melody so well liked by many. It was first written and performed for President Gerald Ford at a White House reception by members of the Marine Band. It is released in this collection for the first time. The popular "How Great Thou Art," written by the Swedish composer Carl Boberg, is also included in this collection. All the arrangements are practical, and can be played and learned quickly by most students and adult string ensembles.
