No. 2 of Two uncommon Spirituals
Voicing; SATB divisi, a cappella, with mezzo-soprano and Baritone solos
Arranged by William Bradley Roberts
Unlike the fast, upbeat setting of this text, this completely different African American tune is slow and introspective. Soprano Leontyne Price used to introduce this tune as "my mother's favorite spiritual." "This Little Light of Mine" evokes the passionate commitment of the believer, longing to bring light into the world. No. 2 of "Two Uncommon Spiritauls," it may be sung as a set with "Nobody Knows the Trouble I've Seen" or independently.
