For SSAA Chorus, Piano and opt. Clarinet
By Stephen Chatman
Commissioned by the Winnepeg Philharmonic Choir, this is the second of a set of two pieces for SATB (divisi,) piano, and optional clarinet. (There is a brief mezzo or treble solo in this movement.) This Christina Rossetti text is touching and poignant, "When I am dead, my dearest, Sing no sad songs for me." The soprano is divisi throughout, the baritones divide in one measure and that's the extent of the divisi. A sad, ironic ("and if thou wilt, forget") and totally memorable piece.
