For SSAA Voices and Piano
Words by Louise McNeill
Music by Sally Lamb McCune
With text by a former Poet Laureate of West Virginia, this haunting work expresses the longing and wonder of a teenage girl who grew up in an isolated part of Appalachia. The chilling piano accompaniment frames the writing for women's voices, which alternates between two and four parts. This work is one of three Appalachian texts set by the composer and may be sung in combination with "Jubilee" (152962R) and "Go Dig My Grave" (152963R) to form a set.
