A majestic concertato for SATB choir with brass quartet, timpani, organ, and congregation by Kevin Hildebrand. This hymn musically encompasses the range of what Christ has done, repeating over and over "for us"-the weight and heaviness of the crucifixion with a choral stanza that highlights "for us He gave His dying breath," as well as the great triumph that "for us He rose." The hymn is especially appropriate during the Lenten and Easter seasons and is the Hymn of the Day for Proper 22A.
