A heartrending arrangement of a new hymn echoes themes of heartache, while highlighting hopeful hints of renewal and restoration. The text by Lisa M. Clark expresses sorrow at the troubles of the world and reflects on the suffering of Jesus, who knows and resonates with pain and grief. A gorgeous oboe part assists the congregation to join in with the new melody and then ascends above in mournful optimism. An optional organ-only accompaniment is also available for free download if an oboist is not available. This piece is especially suggested for use on Ash Wednesday, throughout Lent, Holy Week, for funerals, and at any time of need for hope and comfort.

O Savior, look upon the tears,
We shed in deepest grief.
We waste away throughout the years,
Awaiting Your relief.
Remind us, Lord, that You once cried
And wept on Zion's road
And longed to gather to Your side
All with a heavy load.

O Savior, hear our anxious prayers
That mingle with our sighs.
We bow beneath our weighty cares

Upon Your Father's ear,
And even now, You speak for all
Who hold Your name most dear.

O Savior, see our broken hearts
That suffer with each pain.
We ache with all our wounded parts
As hardened scars remain.
Remind us, Lord, that You endured
The whole world's agony
So our renewal is secured:
From terrors soon set free.
