A Single movement work sung in Latin. Adoro Te Devote is a "quietly mediative setting of a gregorian chant." Elder uses only three of the original stanzas to capture the "penitant theme of the original Latin poem." Since there is no numerical tempo marking, it is stressed that the tempo should follow the natural inclination of gregorian chant by emphasizing the half note rather than the quarter note.
