Hymn for the Adoration of the Holy Cross
Voicing: SATB, Cantor Assembly and Cello
By Normand Gouin
This 6th-century text for Good Friday is sensitively and, at times, dramatically set. SATB voices and assembly are accompanied by a solo cello. Metered congregational refrains alternate with plainchant verses- some set in unison for a soloist or section of the choir, others more elaborately for mixed voices. Length may be tailored to liturgical use.
