Contents: Gerald Raphael Finzi was born in London on July 14th, 1901. He died in Oxford on September 27th, 1956, as a result of having contracted chickenpox while on an excursion with Ralph Vaughan Williams near Gloucester (he had been diagnosed with Hodgkins Disease in 1951, and the double assault on his weakened system proved fatal).
