The middle section stretches out the text of the crucifixion impactfully, and the resurrection text that follows is powerful and striking. Hints of the familiar DEN SIGNEDE DAG appear throughout, and the piece culminates with that full tune on the final stanza, for which the congregation may join. The piece is especially appropriate on Pentecost, but with strong Lenten and Easter themes, it could also work well in those seasons.
