I Lift Up My Soul is a spirited acclamation of praise, full of energy and rhythmic drive. The text is a paraphrase of Psalm 25, fitting for a call to worship or general anthem. Psalm 25 is also one of the readings for the first Sunday in Lent, year B, and the first Sunday in Advent, year C. The voice parts are augmented by a lively piano accompaniment, both of which build to a dynamic ending, featuring an optional soprano descant. Flexible voicing makes this anthem suitable for a small ensemble or a large choir.
