The lark in the clear air is an exquisite song celebrating the beauty of nature. (Unusually for a folksong lyric, it also presents a positive outlook on love!) The contrapuntal second verse, particularly measures 26–34, may require special attention in rehearsal, part by part, as it is the only occasion where the three voice-parts are truly independent of each other.
