arr. Charles Maggs
3 octaves, Level EM
This quiet, reflective arrangement provides the developing quartet an opportunity to develop melodic and dynamic phrasing. The selection begins with the melody being performed together by the highest and lowest bells, separated by a simple, hollow harmonic progression played by the middle bells. The piece then slowly begins to gather volume, exploding into large, thick chords at the chorus of the tune that reflects the words, "Rejoice! Rejoice!" The work then releases the energy, once again building during a restatement of the melody and again bursting forth at the chorus. Particularly appropriate for Advent, this arrangement lends itself to meditative moments such as prelude or offertory. Also available from Genesis Press (GP 1030 ).
