Maurice Ravel/Thomas Parsons
4 octaves, Level EM
"Ma Mere l'Oye" is the French title for Maurice Ravel's "Mother Goose Suite", of which this is the first movement. This short selection is a tender, quiet little composition that is easy to play, even for those new to small ensemble performing. The work is a good choice as a first performance piece for any secular program. For all you ringers out there who enjoy impressionistic music AND ringing in a quartet handbell ensemble, here's the piece for you! Mr. Parsons has arranged "Pavane de la Belle au bois dormant" in 20 measures and four octave's worth of bells. Some performance notes are given and the four parts differ in difficulty levels so that a near beginner could ring along side a seasoned ringer.
