Using one of the unique tunes in our hymn body, this composer incorporates the quarter note triplet from the hymn as a thematic tool throughout. Used in the bridge between verses, it also decorates the theme in various places. There are four verses presented in an arching design - one and four are quiet and sedate, but two and three provide some surprises. Verse two presents the tune in canon between tenor and bass voices. Verse three raises the tonality of each four measure phrase. The end result is a setting of delightful creativity. The piece requires straightforward ringing, but there are numerous accidentals and many long cresendos and decresendos. Set in c minor and g minor, it is 79 measures.
