Full score (keyboard and 3-6 octave handbell part) Michael Helman's Grand March is a brilliant proclamation for three to six octaves of handbells with optional C2 bell, optional handchimes, and optional organ. A syncopated fanfare gives way to a stately march, which features interesting and unexpected harmonic moves. A delicate middle section with martellatos gives way to a recap of the opening fanfare before the bass bells get a chance to hammer out the theme. Adding the optional organ will give the piece an extra resonance and majesty, but even without organ, this piece is sure to be a treat as a Sunday morning prelude.
