The trumpet and organ parts have equal importance in this work, both demonstrating a great deal of virtuosity. The first movement, 'Festival', is lively, but with a certain formality. 'Scherzo' is fairground music, the frivolous bordering on music-hall vulgarity. The lyrical middle movement, 'Wisteria', is wistful.
