Perfect for Memorial Day, Independence Day, or any patriotic service, this setting for orchestra uses 5 verses of contrasting textures, tempo, key, and counterpoint. Verse 4 provides a delightful imitative fugue-like surprise. A 4-measure introduction and "raise-the-roof" ending are the perfect bookends for all the creative orchestration in between. Using only 10 wind players (flute, oboe, clarinet, 2 tpts, 2 horns, 2 tbns, tuba) and 2 percussionists, plus strings (synthesizer reduction included), this is very accessible by church orchestras.
