I've always loved the old songs. The songs of my childhood. The first hymnal I remember seeing was called "Heavenly Highway Hymns." It was compiled in the 1950s by one of gospel music's greatest writers, Luther G. Presley. This book contained the songs that shaped my musical life! The impact has never left me. I've wanted to arrange a collection of these songs for years, and I'm so glad that the time has come. If you want a glimpse into the southern gospel music that shaped by entire life, just take a look at Heavenly Highway Hymns -- ROGER BENNETT
Pianists, too, are glad that the late Roger Bennett, long-time pianist for the Cathedrals, made these hymn settings available to Lillenas. With a style and flair distinctly his, Roger compiled a collection of southern gospel arrangements that are challenging and fun to prepare, but still perfect for preludes, offertories, or piano solos.
