This new composition is based on "Near to the Heart of God." The listener is gradually drawn in by the use of a naively beautiful tune, first heard by an unaccompanied flute. As the arrangement unfolds, this tune becomes a counter-melody to "Near to the Heart of God." More than an accompanied solo, this is a duet for flute and piano, as both musicians share equally in an unfolding process that leads to a sense of release and the peaceful feeling of "Quiet Rest." New to the River Song catalog, composer - arranger, Glenn Haynes, holds a D.M.A. degree in church music and brings a wealth of practical experience to his sacred music arrangements.
