* The four anthems were all made in Handel's time in London at the Chapel Royal. "As pants the hart" / "As the deer cries for water", is already scoring his fifth of this Psalm text, the composer wrote for a charity event in March 1738 for the King's Theatre in the Haymarket.
Until shortly before Handel's first sojourn in England, all instruments except the organ to accompany the liturgy in the Chapel Royal were prohibited. So the four orchestral accompaniment works represent something like a new genre of English church music dar.
The four anthems are submitted after the original text of the "Halle Handel Edition" with clear and easily playable piano arrangements. Surprise you with its diverse and independent orchestral accompaniment, giving the festive chorus and the no less solemn solo sets the perfect setting. To date they have not lost their luster. Scores and piano reductions include the original English text next to a German translation.
