Arranged and orchestrated by Marty Hamby, The Songs of Stamps-Baxter Choral Collection features 12 All-Time Favorites for the Camp Meeting Choir! This new Benson Music Publications collection celebrates such classic "singing convention songs" as "He Set Me Free," "Precious Memories," "Keep On the Firing Line," "Just a Little Talk With Jesus," "Just a Closer Walk With Thee," and many more. Your choir will most certainly enjoy recalling these timeless songs while singing the specially adapted arrangements intended to capture the nostalgia and spirit of old-time camp meetings, singing conventions, and dinner-on-the-ground church gatherings of a time gone by.

Founded in 1924 by Virgil Oliver Stamps and joined by J.R. Baxter Jr., the Stamps-Baxter Music Company became an extremely influential Christian music publishing company within the intriguing and historically significant Shape Note gospel music field. With several paperback publications released each year, these songbooks came to be widely used in church singing events called "singing conventions" and "camp meetings," as well as other church services. With 15,000 songs registered to the Stamps-Baxter Music Company, the catalog boasts many great, iconic song titles that have become synonymous with all-night singings, southern church culture, and Southern Gospel quartets. Many of these cultural mainstays are, today, considered to be the "Gospel music standards" that have become part of the fabric of both Country and Bluegrass music. With the introduction of this important choral collection we celebrate the songs and musical styling's of the churches, choirs, and singing groups of the "old south," while hopefully helping to preserve this rich musical heritage for generations to come.
