Based on the format of the traditional service held each Christmas Eve in the Chapel of King's College, Cambridge, England, this newly-composed work incorporates seventeen carols within its eight scriptural lessons, with the congregation participating in more than half of them. The composer has often melded two carols together, creating an imaginative new texture for both, particularly when infused with congregational support. The ultimate result is a compelling new service in a time-honored format featuring the unique compositional talents of one of Britain's best known composers.
