In a composition that transforms before our very eyes and ears, a little melodic phrase of six simple notes leads to a glorious original melody that moves from C minor to E-flat Major, from night to day. Near the close, the hymn tune "How Can I Keep From Singing?" appears as the transformation is nearly complete. "Songs In the Night" was commissioned by the Donald E. Allured Original Composition Award Committee for premiere at Bay View Week of Handbells 2019. A masterful Level 3 composition to be sure.
