"When We Are Living" is an arrangement of the Spanish melody SOMOS DEL SEÑOR. Its first and last sections feature a simple, malleted Latin beguine rhythm, accompanied by optional claves, maracas, and congas or bongos. In contrast, the middle section is slower and chordal, using handchimes if desired. The percussion and handchimes are all optional, making this piece a flexible and useful addition to the worship, concert, or festival repertoire at any time of year.
