The scripture passage from the book of Revelation, chapter 6, verses 1-8 is the basis of this dramatic original composition. The four horses of the apocalypse and their riders are depicted in the four sections of the piece, each section musically illustrating the devastation represented by the horses and riders - conquest, war, famine, and death. The use of mallets, martellato, ring touch, shaking, and optional handchimes add to the various colors and textures of the piece. Appropriate for concert or worship when the focus is on themes of turmoil, pain, suffering, and the end times.
