Two old familiar hymns get an updated treatment in this fascinating arrangement for handbells. Harmonies have unusual twists and, although the ringing is uncomplicated, the musical effect is subtle and sophisticated. Careful balance of melody, murmuring passage work and supporting broken chords challenge ringers in much of the piece, but resonant chordal section offers a satisfying break in the action. The piece is technically easy, with few accidentals, but will offer an intense musical experience.
