For 2 & 3 or 5 octave Handbells
Level: 2
Arranged by Kathleen Wissinger
Advent is a time of awaiting magical promises; this 15th century French tune breathes with anticipation and awe. "Veni Emmanuel," from the "True Music" series, is a simple, haunting rendition of O Come, O Come, Emmanuel (15th century, France), perfectly embodying that special feeling of wonder as we anticipate the coming of the Christ Child.
Set in two ranges – for 2 octaves or 3/5 octaves – each version includes options for Bell Tree solo (G5-G6 or C6-C7) or a ringing soloist (or 2, 3 or 4 ringers) on a separate set of chimes (these are the easiest options for the 2 oct. version, as ringing parts for chimes and bells often cross voices.) Originally written as a 3 oct. beginners' quartet (with two on bells, one on chimes and one on Bell Tree), these full choir scores can be adapted for fewer ringers; but the reproducible quartet/quintet score of the same name (RE6002R in the "little gems" series with the purple cover) with easier-to-read individual parts is available for this purpose. Breath in slowly and enjoy this lovely piece in a reflective moment for worship, festival or concert.
